So tell this any website or app using Facebook Business Tools and they have to remove the tracking. Even if consent was given. And no matter if Facebook is processor, joint controller or third party to the website/app owner.

So Art. 15 GDPR isn't fulfilled. AFAIK this is the first court statement of Facebook regarding the "Hive" database problem: FB just can't show all external data on a subject.
This problem was first testified from Paul-Oliver Dehaye with FB emails in parliament hearings regarding Cambridge Analytica.

The recent NOYB judgement contains a hidden gift for anyone, who wants to stop the use of Facebook business tool like "Facebook Pixel". Privacy Policy Director Cecilia Alvarez stated during the case, that the tool for data requests doesn't show all data about a subject.

Instead it shows only data Facebook considers as "relevant". (p. 35, 39)

Here’s the video of my talk “Beyond surveillance capitalism: alternatives, stopgaps, Small Web, and Site.js.” from Creative Mornings Istanbul on Friday.

Edited to fix the audio sync issue, add captions, chapters, and links to all the mentioned tools, etc.

Enjoy + please share! :)

(Of course, you can also use the Better Blocker blocking rules with any blocker that uses WebKit Content Blocker lists: better.fyi/blockerList.json)

Do you use uBlock Origin? Did you know that you can use the Better Blocker block list on it?

Just add the rules from here:

better.fyi/blockerList.txt

PS. If you have other rule sets, I’d recommend not mixing them as we go to great pains to ensure that we don’t break sites while protecting your/our privacy. If you are mixing rulesets, we can’t help you if things break :)

One thing I hate most are links to sources in newsletters, which

- are proxied through some url with identifiers
- and are not marked where this link leads to

If someone e.g. does not want to visit instagram, this person needs to visit the link to know where it leads to.

Emoji autocomplete just landed in Pinafore Dev, and I'm so glad I can type emoji this way now instead of having to use Ubuntu's built-in emoji "picker" (which is awful).

It's way easier to type colon +1 enter and have it become 👍️ rather than searching "thumbs up" in the global Ubuntu search menu:

Another thing I'll say about this project: web developers focus a lot on bundle size as their key performance metric, because it's easy to measure and understand. Recently, more folks are actually looking at CPU performance too (Lighthouse, WebPageTest, etc.).

Almost nobody is looking at memory.

Well, I did it. I went off and wrote my own emoji picker.

I never really wanted to get this deep into emoji, but I started this project two months ago and… somehow, here I am. nolanlawson.com/2020/06/28/int

I noticed a website I use has a 16KiB *javascript* thats sole job is to download the "best" favicon.ico format for my specific browser. A typical favicon is around 1KiB. What a collosal waste of energy and time the www has become.

I wish there was a way for web apps to hook into the browsers scroll-away logic. So on mobile, when the user scrolls far enough and the address bar slides away, my own UI can slide away with it.

I can use an IntersectionObserver to scroll my UI away, but it is kinda weird when the address bar and my UI slide away at different points and different speeds.

It took us some time, but you can (finally!) move your U6 account to U7 without changing your username.

Have a look! 🎉
